

State Meet Trip
When: February 10-12 , 2012
Where: Winter Park, Minocqua, Wi
Transportation: Parent drivers only
Cost: $30 payable to the Lodi Area XC Ski Club
Food: Each house should prepare breakfast and lunches. The whole team
will eat together Frriday and Saturday Evening.
Lodging: At Black's Cliff Resort, we have 5 house. Cost is $27 per person
What to bring: Bring light, but warm clothes. NO BLUE JEANS, GARDEN
GLOVES, or COTTON. Synthetic wear works the best. Bring two-three sets
of ski layers for racing day, including warm-ups. Do not forget your boots
and racing uniforms!
Directions: Take HWY 51 all the way to Minoqua. Turning west/left on HWY
70 takes you to Squirrel Lake road and then follow the signs to Winter Park.
Races: Saturday morning: skating races-5.7k with 15 secind interval starts.
Saturday afternoon: classical pursuit-5.6 k
Schedule: We will leave on Friday morning and try to ski the courses at
Winter Park on Friday afternoon. We plan to stay over Froday and Saturday
nites and this year we will all definitely attend the awards ceremony at
Lakeland Union High School. On Sunday, we will return to MWP to free ski
and put in some mileage for the Korteloppet.

Statz finishes 23rd,Nichols 27th at State.
Girls Team finishes 9th and Boys 10th
The Lodi High School and Middle School Teams traveled to Minocqua Winter Park for the 2012
Nordic State Championships on Saturday February 11th. The High School Races featured a 6 kilometer
skate race in the morning followed by another 6 kilometer classical race in the afternoon. Although
snow conditions were spectacular, the teams woke up to 5 below zero temperatures. Elliot Statz led
the boys team with a 22nd place finish in the skate race and finished in 23rd place after the classical
afternoon race. “This is the highest place for a Lodi skier in the history of our ski team “, comments
Coach Fanney. James Saager passed 24 skiers in the classic race to finish 51st overall and Sam Taylor
finished 60th to pace the Boys team to 10th place finish. Hayward won the Boys division followed by
Ashwaubenon and Lakeland. Other Lodi finishers were Asher Winner(77),Jimmy Conway(78),Michael
Rendler(81),Tyler Pedracine(102),Dane Zoske(103),Peter Gundeck(104),Stefan Humphries(107), Mitchel
Endres(109), Aaron Szalkowski(111) and Brice Maier(114).
In the Girls races, Paige Nichols led the Lodi team with a 27th overall finish followed by Syd Endres
at 55th and Rachel Porter (71st). The Lodi Girls finished 9th for their best showing in 5 years. Hayward
won the girls division followed by Waukesha Peak Nordic and Lakeland. “Paige had a great finish to her
ski season with a first place at Iola, two top 10 finishes at Badger State and then a strong showing at
State”, adds Fanney.” Syd Endres was the most improved skier overall this season while Rachel Porter
had a Monster classical race at State to move the girls ahead of Ashwaubenon in team scoring”. Other
girls racing at State included Tara Lang((91st), Chelsea Buchanan(105), Allie Gorton(123),Sarah Kuehn
(128) and Gracia Clark(129).
Aiden Campbell medaled in the girls middle school races with a 6th place finish in the classical race
and an 8th place in the skate race. Coach Fanney says,” Aiden was the Lodi star of the day with 2
medals. She is going to help the girls High School Team next year make the big jump to the next level.”
Maggie Conway and Thana Zoske from BlueMound Nordic also skied with Aiden to round out the Lodi
MS girls team.
The middle school boys at State included Matt Saager(35th), Joel Saager(47th) and Nathan Taylor(59th).
The Lodi Nordic Ski Teams finish out the season with the 23 kilometer American
Korteloppet/Birkebeiner Race in Cable ,Wisconsin on Staurday February 25th.
